West Central Florida might actually see some rain during the day and into tonight, forecasters say. There's even a slight chance some of the rain tonight could include a thunderstorm.
This is more likely to happen around Hernando County and then south and inland, where the afternoon sun can heat things enough to kick off a storm or two. Otherwise, it will be rain showers.
For the Tampa Bay area, most of the activity will take place later today and into this evening.
Some rain this morning started moving ashore from the Gulf in counties well to the north, though there were a few showers around Tarpon Springs and into Tampa.
The weather service says these should continue to move inland through the day, with the Nature Coast having the best chance to see more rain.
This is all coming from a front that's slowly drifting south and should make it past the Nature Coast around midnight and through the Tampa Bay area around dawn, pushing some rain ahead of it.
The front was stalled around the Panhandle on Saturday. Once it passes through, though, it won't do much to our temperatures besides make the days in the lower 70s instead of the upper 70s.
Forecasters expect another cool front to be nearby around the end of the week that will give us a small chance for rain.
