Early Run Keys LSU Defeat Of Florida

BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU had just the plan to take down No. 9 Florida.

The Tigers built a 16-2 lead in the game's first 10 1/2 minutes and went on to beat Florida 66-47 Sunday.

"LSU hit us in the mouth and we spent the rest of the ballgame trying to get up off the floor," Florida coach Amanda Butler said.
Allison Hightower scored 21 points for LSU and LaSondra Barrett had 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Tigers (13-9, 6-4 SEC) got their first win in six tries against a ranked opponent. The Gators (22-4, 8-3) lost their second straight conference road game after an emotional 66-57 win at home Feb. 8 against Tennessee.

Florida lost Thursday at No. 24 Vanderbilt, 84-68.
