TAMPA - Police arrested the manager of a halfway house this morning after one of the residents said the manager threatened him with a gun.
Danny Julian, 62, is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Julian operates a halfway house at 901 E. Seward St. for the New Life Pentecostal Church of God.
Pastor Tom Atchison said he posted $2,000 bail for Julian, who has worked with him for four years. About 20 people live at the halfway house.
Atchison denied that Julian pointed a pistol at anyone, but said he had displayed the weapon after a tenant became insistent and wouldn't let Julian close his door.
According to an arrest affidavit, Julian and a resident who had lived at the property for one week got into a dispute about 6:20 a.m. The resident knocked on Julian's door to ask whether his jacket had been found on a church bus.
Julian told the resident to come back later and the resident asked for a phone number, the affidavit states. Julian's wife told the resident to leave.
The resident did not leave, so Julian pulled a .380 Colt pistol and pointed it at him, yelling and cursing, the affidavit states.
Julian told police he was not in fear for his life but was trying to scare the resident, the affidavit states. He also told police he should have called authorities instead of getting his gun.
