TAMPA - Yacht StarShip intends to sell its 600-passenger dining cruise ship, lay off some of its 80-person staff and eliminate its seasonal operation in Boston while continuing to operate its 150-passenger yacht in Tampa and Clearwater, chief executive and President Troy Manthey said Monday afternoon.
Manthey said a recent steep decline in business led to immediate reductions beginning Monday. He said it could be until Friday before the staff cuts become finalized.
Manthey, who has played a prominent role in downtown business development efforts, will acquire the company he has operated, along with its naming rights.
