A Tarpon Springs police corporal who is alleged to have had inappropriate contact with a 17-year-old girl will not be charged with a crime, Tarpon Springs police have confirmed.
There remains, however, an internal affairs investigation to determine whether Cpl. Michael Kazouris violated any Tarpon Springs Police Department policies or procedures.
Kazouris was put on administrative leave Nov.12 after the allegation involving the Tarpon Springs High School student came to light.
"No criminal charges will be filed at this time," said Lt. Barbara Templeton of the Tarpon Springs Police Department.
Bruce Bartlett, the chief assistant state attorney at the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office, confirmed that Tarpon Springs police did not refer an investigative file to prosecutors for review.
Kazouris has spent more than 11 years as a school resource officer in Pinellas County schools and has had an unblemished record.
The teenage girl was not the source of the complaint, Tarpon Springs police have said.
