Three dogs were found locked in a vehicle outside Lutz Elementary School on Tuesday. They had potentially been there for hours.
But no one will face charges.
Investigators determined their owner had an emergency and needed to go to a hospital, Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. The animals are in Hillsborough County Animal Services' care.
Marti Ryan, spokeswoman for the animal services departments, said one of the dogs, a female Rottweiler, had a heat stroke and had to be euthanized. The other two dogs, which are labrador retrievers, are doing better, she said.
