2 Children Airlifted To Hospital After Polk County Crash

Two Haines City children were seriously injured in a crash Wednesday night in Polk County.
Dominick Kocot, 9, and Xavier Martinez, 8, were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital. The driver of the 2003 Toyota Corolla they were in, Noemi M. Gamez, 29, of Lake Hamilton, also was seriously injured and was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
The crash occurred about 8:33 p.m. at County Road 546 and Bice Grove Road.
The Corolla was heading north on Bice Grove while a 1996 Ford F-150 driven by Wesley Wise, 19, of Lake Wales, was heading east on County Road 546. Gamez entered the intersection and into the Ford's path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
