LAND O' LAKES - Ric Mellin is the new principal at Land O' Lakes High.
The Pasco County School Board approved Mellin's job transfer Tuesday evening from Mitchell High School.
He will assume his new duties March 23 and succeeds Monica Ilse, who has been named principal of Anclote High, a new school under construction in Holiday.
Mellin has worked in Pasco County since 1994, starting as a social studies teacher at Stewart Middle School in Zephyrhills.
He later taught at Pine View Middle School in Land O' Lakes before being promoted to assistant principal at Wesley Chapel High in 1999, the year that school opened.
Mellin became principal at Mitchell High in 2005.
He holds a bachelor's degree in social science education and a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.
