TAMPA - AMC theaters and historic Tampa Theatre are offering two opportunities for you to get into the spirit of the Oscars this weekend.
On Saturday, you can watch all five films nominated for best picture at area AMC theaters.
"Milk," "The Reader," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Frost/Nixon" will be screened successively at the AMC Regency 20 at Regency Square Mall, 2496 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, and AMC Veterans 24 at 9302 Anderson Road, Tampa.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs past 11 p.m. Guests can purchase an exclusive the all-day pass for $30 (or $25 for AMC Movie Watcher members). Moviegoers also receive a large popcorn with unlimited refills.
The Best Picture Showcase is scheduled at 97 AMC theatres in 42 North American cities.
On Sunday, Tampa Theatre is hosting "Oscar Night America-Tampa Bay," an evening of glitz and glamour including a red carpet, paparazzi and watching the Academy Awards telecast on the big screen.
Attire is Hollywood "elegant" or black tie.
The VIP reception at 6 p.m. costs $130 and includes a limo ride around the block, red carpet arrival, hors d'oeuvres, champagne, a swag bag and more.
General admission for the Oscar experience at 7:30 p.m. costs $30 and includes a limo ride, red carpet arrival and complimentary popcorn and soda all night.
There will be free doughnuts and coffee for those who stay until the last award is presented.
