TAMPA - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a deputy and his canine partner who were injured when the patrol cruiser they were in this morning flipped several times after a rear tire blew.
Deputy Richard George and his four-legged partner, C.J., were headed southbound on Interstate 75 near Big Bend Road when the tire blew, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy had cuts and bruises and is being evaluated at Tampa General Hospital. The dog appears to be OK but is also being checked by a veterinarian, sheriff's officials said.
The deputy was on his way to a call about a missing child.
