TAMPA - Drivers on U.S. 41 will need to take a detour near Adamo Drive this morning.
The highway, also known as 50th Street, was closed just after 5 a.m. today to allow CSX Inc. to repair a railroad crossing. The closing is expected to last about three weeks.
Workers are replacing the tracks between Seventh Avenue and Uceta Road, a half-mile north of Adamo.
A detour by the Department of Transportation will allow motorists to travel north and south on 50th Street except between the block-long work zone between Seventh and Uceta.
Southbound drivers can take a right at Broadway Avenue to 39th Street. Turn left and left again at Adamo Drive to get back to 50th.
Northbound motorists should return to Adamo and proceed west to 39th Street. Turn right at 39th, which becomes 40th Street, and right again at Melbourne Boulevard to get back to 50th.
Track repairs have been occurring elsewhere along U.S. 41, recently in the Palm River area and south of Causeway Boulevard.
