Doctors' Responsibility
Re: Dr. David Lubin's letter (Feb. 17): Does Lubin keep open spots on his appointment calendar for patients who have not prescheduled their accidents or illnesses?
During the time I had health insurance that changed primary care doctors almost every year, I was sent to the ER by three different doctors for things I felt could have been taken care of in their office. One time I woke up with a swollen hand with unbendable fingers (after I hit it on a door frame several days before). Another time I had a swollen knee, and a third time a stiff neck. The last time, all I asked my doctor for was a prescription for a muscle relaxer. His answer? "Go to the emergency room."
I think doctors need to take some responsibility for overcrowded ERs.

Same-Day Office Visit
I just had to comment on Dr. Lubin's letter. Doctor, did you ever try to get a same-day visit in your office? Call your office and try. I work in a chiropractic office (my husband's), and there are times when I need to get patients in to their primary care doctors. When you call and if you are lucky to get a human, you are told it will take days, even weeks, to get a patient seen. Then you are told to take the person to the ER if it's that much of an emergency. Good luck being seen anywhere.

Presidential Travel
Why is President Obama spending $45,000 a day flying around the U.S., Canada, etc.? I thought the campaign was over. How is this expenditure saving the taxpayer? At the rate he is going, he will set a new record for travel while in the White House.
Practice what you preach. Stay home and take care of business. When is the American public going to wake up and call an end to useless spending? Does no one have any backbone? Common sense is not only uncommon - it just doesn't exist.

No More Giveaways
If banks made bad investments, then their shareholders need to face the consequences before any taxpayer money is put on the line and receive equity just like other stockholders. Our money is at risk.
Our elected representatives need to be looking out for us.
