TAMPA - A man who caused a disturbance on a Delta flight from New York City to Tampa on Thursday was arrested after he scuffled at the gate with Tampa International Airport police, according to an affidavit.
Robert M. Waugh, 32, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who told authorities he was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs, was charged with four counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest. He remained in the Orient Road Jail this morning. Bail was set at $10,250.
An arrest affidavit said that Waugh was arrested when he left the airplane at Gate E65 at 4:30 p.m. Thursday following a disturbance on Flight 1831 from John F. Kennedy International Airport.
As police met Waugh at the gate, he swung and kicked at officers, police said. The affidavit said Waugh also tried to head-butt one officer and bite another in a failed attempt to free himself.
