Baseball fans can hit the spring training circuit and get tested for skin cancer at the same time.
The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute and the Tampa Bay Rays are hosting the second annual Sun Safety Tour starting Thursday at ballparks across West Central Florida.
Last year, Moffitt screened 695 people through the program and identified 108 suspected cancerous lesions and 264 suspected precancerous lesions.
The Spring Swing will be set up outside select ballparks through March. Screeners will look for early signs of skin cancer and promote sun safety. Screenings start about two hours before the games.
The Spring Swing schedule includes:
•Thursday, Rays vs. Yankees, 1:15 p.m. - Steinbrenner Field, Tampa
•March 1, Blue Jays vs. Rays, 1:05 p.m. - Charlotte Sports Park, Charlotte County
•March 8, Rays vs. Red Sox, 1:05 p.m. - City of Palms Park, Fort Myers
•March 14, Rays vs. Reds, 1:05 p.m. - Ed Smith Stadium, Sarasota
•March 21, Rays vs. Orioles, 1:05 p.m. - Fort Lauderdale Stadium, Fort Lauderdale
•March 22, Braves vs. Mets, 1:10 p.m. - Tradition Field, Port St. Lucie
