Universal Orlando has created a Mardi Gras getaway package for Florida residents starting at $75 a person per night for a two-day, two-park ticket to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and a two-night accommodation at a hotel near Universal Studios.
The deal includes complimentary scheduled transportation between the hotel and the theme park.
The theme park's Mardi Gras celebration happens every Saturday night through April 18 and on March 27, a Friday.
Universal Orlando also offers a $99-plus-tax season pass good for admission to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure through Dec.19. Mardi Gras is included in park admission to Universal Studios.
Mardi Gras includes Cajun food and a parade featuring floats with New Orleans bands and participants tossing beads.
The Mardi Gras concert series has weekly performances, with Ne-Yo tonight and Pat Benatar and Barenaked Ladies on the successive Saturday nights.
Kelly Clarkson is scheduled for March 28 and MC Hammer for April 4.
This spring, Universal is scheduled to open its 17-story Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster, which combines a 65 mph ride with music selected by the rider, who can purchase a video of the experience set to the music.
Universal temporarily has closed its "Twister ... Ride It Out" tornado simulator and "Fear Factor Live" attraction as part of seasonal schedules.
