Australian actor Hugh Jackman proved he can do more than just fill out a tux. His charm, style and sense of humor were on display when he opened the telecast with a comical song and dance tribute to the "best picture" nominees. He had less success with a forgettable salute to the comeback of musicals. But for most of the Oscars, the 40-year-old Broadway and film star steered a smooth course.
