SEFFNER - Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting at the Claymore Estates apartment complex involving a 14-year-old boy.
The boy, whose name was not released tonight by deputies, was shot about 8 p.m. as he was taking out the trash, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
The teen's condition is not known, but Carter said he was undergoing emergency surgery at Tampa General Hospital.
Deputies are continuing their search for the shooter in the area of the apartments at 5010 Claymore Drive, east of Interstate 75 and south of U.S. 92, Carter said. Witnesses told deputies that the shooter fled the scene in a red vehicle.
