Three men hired to help attack a Sarasota man's in-laws have been sentenced to federal prison terms.
The men, Edmon Vardanyan, Sergey Zub and Larik Cholak, helped Alex Shevgert attack his in-laws Grigori and Galina Komissarchuk after they stopped giving money to Shevgert Shevgert was convicted after a trial in which Zub and Cholak testified against him.
Zub, Cholak and Vardanyan all pleaded guilty to federal charges, including conspiring to travel across state lines with the intent to kill or injure.
The Komossarchuks, who had homes in Brooklyn and Sarasota, suffered serious injuries in the attacks, including skull fractures.
The assailant, Edmon Vardanyan, 24, of Tampa, years in federal prison.
Zub, 41, of Brooklyn, who admitted in court that he drove Vardanyan, was sentenced to 30 months behind bars.
A third defendant, Larik Cholak, admitted he helped Shevgert find the attacker. He received 41 months in prison.
Shevgert is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
