Man Killed Crossing Main Street In Dunedin

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident that killed a man as he walked his bicycle across Main Street in Dunedin Sunday night.
Mark Higgins, 38, of 28488 U.S. 19 Lot 134 in Clearwater, was crossing at 1780 Main Street about 10:20 p.m. when a Cadillac Escalade struck him, deputies said.
The Dunedin Fire Department said Higgins died at the scene a half-hour later. The driver of the Escalade, 53-year-old Robert Schaieb of Dunedin, and his passenger, 20-year-old William Noodwang of Clearwater, were not injured, deputies said.
It does not appear the driver was speeding, deputies said. No charges have been filed. The investigation continues.
