DADE CITY - A man wanted in connection with the Feb. 10 shooting of a 25-year-old father turned himself in just before midnight Monday, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
Rudy Vicente Rivera, 21, of 38755 Chapman St., is accused of shooting Pedro Alvarez near Gaddis and Julian streets. Rivera is charged with attempted murder and was being held in the Land O' Lakes Jail today with bail set at $250,000.
According to reports, Alvarez, his wife and 5-year-old son were driving on Julian Street when they heard gunshots and saw four or five men firing guns. Alvarez told investigators he was concerned for his son's safety so he had his wife stop the car.
Alvarez got out of the car and asked one of the men to stop the shooting. The man responded by shooting Alvarez in the arms and back, reports state. Alvarez ran back to his car and his wife drove him to hospital, where he was treated for four gunshots wounds.
