Massachusetts College Hires Dog To Chase Foul Fowl

BOSTON - Simmons College has come up with a low-tech solution to get rid of the flock of Canada geese fouling its quad.

Rather than spending thousands of dollars a month to hire a company to fight the goose nuisance, Becka Yturregui, who works in the Boston school's advancement office, suggested letting her dog take a run at the foul fowl.

The Boston Globe reports that at least twice a day now, Finn — a 5-year-old border collie — bounds across the quad with maintenance worker David Weeks, sending the geese soaring away.

The college's legal department cleared the arrangement. And in today's financial climate, Finn's employment comes cheap. He's paid a handful of baby carrots and the occasional "good boy."
