Polk County investigators have made arrests in two separate methamphetamine investigations.
On Monday, detectives learned Richard Brewer, 33, was manufacturing methamphetamine at his Lakeland home, Polk County deputies say. Brewer, of 509 E. Main Street, already was on probation for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Polk detectives and Brewer's probation officer searched his home and found items used to make methamphetamine, deputies say. The items were found in his bedroom and in a cooler in a dog house in his back yard.
Brewer was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held without bail at the Polk County Jail.
In a separate case Monday in Lakeland, detectives say they learned two brothers were going to cook methamphetamine in a hotel room at the Innlife Inn, 1025 Memorial Boulevard.
Deputies conducted surveillance of the two men: Jim Waid, 28, of Indiana, and Steve A. Waid Jr., 32, address unknown. Deputies saw the men go into retail stores and buy camp fuel and ephedrine, and the deputies followed the men back to the hotel.
"The suspects gave detectives consent to search the room where they found crushed cold pills, camp fuel, drain cleaner, lithium batteries, a gas generator, and filters used in the process of cooking methamphetamine," a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release states. "The suspects were in the process of beginning a meth cook."
The Waid brothers were arrested. Each was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of drug paraphernalia, rental of space for manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of listed chemicals.
