LAND O' LAKES - The effort to bring financial services company T. Rowe Price to Pasco County took another step forward this morning.
The governing board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District approved a development permit with no opposition at its meeting in Brooksville. The permit is required to ensure the office complex T. Rowe Price is thinking about building would be developed with the least possible impact on the environment.
The permit is the latest step toward T. Rowe Price building a three-building, 450,000-square-foot office complex on the south side of State Road 54 at Sunlake Boulevard. The company plans to add 1,200 new employees and is considering Pasco County along with sites in four other states. The Pasco site is the only one in Florida under consideration.
T. Rowe Price has more than 400 employees in leased office space in Tampa's Westshore area. If the company decides to build in Pasco, those employees would move north, county officials have said.
County and state officials have offered T. Rowe Price more than $30 million in subsidies to lure the company to Pasco.
T. Rowe Price officials continue to say they haven't made up their minds about their expansion.
