SAN FRANCISCO - Barry Bonds' personal trainer is likely to tell a federal judge on Friday that he has no plans to testify at the home run king's perjury trial.
Greg Anderson had been scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Susan Illston today to tell her whether he would break his silence. The hearing was postponed until Friday at the request of Anderson's lawyer, Mark Geragos, who is busy with another trial.
Anderson already has spent a year in prison for refusing to testify before a grand jury about his relationship with Bonds.
BRAVES: Completed a $2.5 million, one-year contract with Garret Anderson after he passed a physical.
MARINERS: Ken Griffey Jr. could get a total of $5 million this year in his return to Seattle if he stays healthy and fans flock to see him.
The Mariners have layered performance bonuses based upon plate appearances and attendance that could net Griffey an additional $3 million - on top of the $2 million in base salary that's in the one-year contract baseball's leading active home run hitter agreed to.
The 39-year-old Griffey could earn $3 million more if the Mariners have a paid attendance total of 3 million, he has 500 plate appearances and he does not go on the disabled list, according to salary figures obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.
ATHLETICS: Scrapped their plans to move to Fremont, Calif., capping months of speculation that the team would pull out over procedural holdups.
NATIONALS: John Lannan will start Washington's first spring training game when the team travels to Kissimmee to play the Houston Astros today.
TWINS: Right-hander Boof Bonser will have exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his ailing pitching shoulder, which has kept the former Gibbs High star off the mound since the start of spring training.
