TAMPA - A man was killed this morning at the entrance road to the Selmon Crosstown Expressway off northbound Interstate 75.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 49-year-old man has a Salt Lake City, Utah, address. Troopers did not release his identity because his family has not been notified.
A 2003 Ford Mustang traveling northbound in the inside lane of the interstate to access the expressway struck the man about 6:05 a.m. Troopers have not determined whether the man was standing in the roadway or walking across the road at the time, a news release states.
The Mustang's driver, Jason Briggs, 30, of Mineral Springs, Ark., was transported to Tampa General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, troopers said.
No charges were immediately filed.
The entrance road is off I-75 just north of the U.S. 301 exit.
