TAMPA - A 20-year-old University of South Florida student was struck on campus while riding a bicycle today, police said.
The student was on USF Bull Run Drive near USF Orange Drive about 1 p.m. when a black pickup crossed the double yellow line on Bull Run Drive and clipped him, said USF police Sgt. Mike Klingebiel.
The student, whose identity was not released, was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital.
University police charged the pickup's driver, Francisco Hernandez, 33, with driving with a suspended license and reckless driving with bodily injury. He also was cited for careless driving.
Hernandez is not affiliated with USF, Klingebiel said.
