NEW PORT RICHEY - Investigators Tuesday arrested a man they say is responsible for the Feb. 12 holdup of the Bank of America at 5242 Little Road.
Larkin Lloyd Derks III, 55, of 5330 Van Doren Ave., is charged with armed robbery. Authorities said Derks gave a bank teller a note demanding money and implied he had a weapon. The teller handed over cash.
The incident was captured on surveillance video. Three witnesses, including the teller and Derks' live-in girlfriend, also identified Derks as the robber, reports state.
Derks was released from prison in March after serving five years on robbery charges out of Marion County. He is serving five years of probation on those charges.
Derks denied involvement in the bank robbery when interviewed by investigators, reports state. He remained in the Land O' Lakes Jail today. No bail was set.
