BROOKSVILLE - A teenager was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation after deputies reportedly discovered him having sex with his underage girlfriend.

The alleged tryst in the back seat of Stephen Young's Ford Mustang was interrupted by deputies Sunday. Young, 18, said he didn't know he was doing anything unlawful, according to an affidavit.

His girlfriend, who is between the ages of 12 and 16, contradicted that statement, however, when she told deputies the two spoke about the possibility of Young going to jail on several occasions, according to an affidavit.

Caught In The Act, Suspect Surrenders

SPRING HILL - Sometimes suspects caught in the act concoct elaborate tales to explain their actions while other scofflaws swing their fists at deputies.

Ronald Kiger, 41, did neither when he was caught at 3 a.m. behind a pawn shop with a stolen lawnmower, an affidavit shows.

"You got me," Kiger told the approaching deputy as he put his hands into the air.

Minutes earlier, Kiger had used a pair of bolt cutters to snip a chain link fence behind Gold n Pawn on County Line Road and remove a lawnmower from the yard, an affidavit states.

Kiger was charged with commercial burglary, possession of burglary tools and grand theft.

Traffic Stop Nets Half Pound Of Pot

BROOKSVILLE - Police found more than a half a pound of marijuana in the back seat of a car during a traffic stop Friday, according to a report from the Brooksville Police Department.

An officer stopped the car on Crawford Street just before 8 p.m. for travelling around the metal barricades at the rear of the Hillside Estates housing project, the report states. The officer saw smoke coming from the interior of the vehicle and conducted a search with a drug-sniffing dog, the report states.

Police found two purses in the back seat containing a total of 8.5 ounces of marijuana. The drugs have a street value of about $1,000, the report states.

Also in the purses were a digital scale and two prescription bottles belonging to the front seat passenger, Jacqueline Langley, 20, of 809 Schoolhouse St., Brooksville.

Langley was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church. She was taken to the Hernando County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.

Man Confesses To Vehicle Burglaries, Police Say

SPRING HILL - A 22-year-old man confessed to burglarizing vehicles Saturday in the parking lot of Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church, according to a sheriff's office report.

Deputies responded to the church at 13460 Olympic Village Lane just before 7 p.m. about a suspicious man in the church parking lot who fled when approached by a witness, the report states. Deputies learned that at least seven vehicles had been burglarized. Among the missing items were a GPS device and a cell phone.

Deputies found the suspect, Michael Tenhagen, and the missing cell phone at a nearby home. Tenhagen admitted to stealing the cell phone from one of the vehicles, the report states.

He was arrested and charged with vehicle burglary and taken to the Hernando County Jail, where he was held on a $5,000 bail.
