Hillsborough County is jumping on the Twitter trend, sending out county news via the social media service under the name @HCNews. So far, there's a small following - 25 people - but more could be flowing soon, given tweets from the county such as this one:
"Hillsborough County Morgue Grand Opening Thursday - Don't Have To Be Dead To Come!"
That tweet leads to a few other morgue fun facts by HCNews, such as the morgue's "capabilities to investigate a mass fatality," and storage for 150 bodies, plus space for "refrigeration trailers that can accommodate up to 400 bodies."
So far, government entities or personalities are wading gently into the Twitter pool. Florida Sen. Mel Martinez maintains a Twitter account (@MelMartinez). Sen. Bill Nelson does not (that we know of). And there are loads of fake politicians, including the very fake but very funny Attorney General Eric Holder (@ericholder).
Oh, if you want to see the 31,500-square-foot medical examiner complex firsthand, make sure you're at 11025 N. 46th St. at 10 a.m. Thursday.
