DADE CITY - The Academy at the Farm is accepting applications for new students for the 2009-10 school year.

Applications must be postmarked by Saturday for students to be included in the lottery that will determine who is admitted to the expanding charter school.

The school, which is in its seventh year, serves 280 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, but wants to expand to 400 students.
Charter schools are public schools operated by private groups that contract with the school board. They receive tax dollars and don't charge tuition.

The Academy at the Farm is at 9500 Alex Lange Way on the Lange Farm, off Handcart Road.
