Sarasota County sheriff's detectives seized 96 mature marijuana plants from a North Port grow house this morning and arrested the homeowner on drug charges.
Frank Martinez, 43, of 2836 Abbeville Road, North Port, was charged with trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds, cultivation of marijuana and possession of a residence for the purpose of manufacturing a controlled substance.
Detectives served a search warrant at Martinez's home about 8 a.m., Sarasota County sheriff's Lt. Chuck Lesaltato said. Detectives found the 96 pot plants inside, which weighed a total of 183 pounds and had an estimated street value of more than $1 million, Lesaltato said.
