Davis Named District 13 POY
Academy of the Holy Names senior Katie Davis has been named the girls basketball FACA District 13 Player of the Year.
The honor means Davis will be participating in the North-South All-Star Game at Orlando's Freedom High on April 18. Davis wrapped up her Jaguars career with 1,562 points.
FOOTBALL: Tampa Bay Tech senior linebacker Marquise Mulkey has committed to Division II Northern State and will sign with the program today. Mulkey was among the Titans' defensive leaders in 2008 with 41 tackles, five sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Also, Armwood senior offensive lineman Dillard Hurley has committed to Webber International, an NAIA program. Hurley, a two-year starter, was a Tribune All-Hillsborough County second-team pick as a senior.
ROWING: Plant senior Molly Hamrick won the junior women heavyweight division title at the 2009 C.R.A.S.H.-B. Sprints World Indoor Rowing Championships at the Agganis Arena at Boston University on Sunday. Hamrick won the event by more than four seconds in a time of 7:08.10.
