BROOKSVILLE - A gambling game busted up by deputies last month could result in a jolt of cash for the sheriff's office.
A forfeiture lawsuit was filed this week to claim the $15,115 in cash deputies seized as evidence when they arrested five people on gambling charges.
The lawsuit adds that 10 sets of playing cards and four dice were also taken into evidence, but it makes no claim on the paraphernalia.
Deputies went to 806 Twigg St. on Jan. 26 to search for a wanted person. Their quarry, Bruce Warren, was found seated at a table outside the house with four other people.
Warren's pockets produced $688 in cash; another suspect, Leslie Coleman, had $10,442 in his pockets, which he claimed were his winnings from the gambling, according to an arrest report.
Also arrested on gambling charges were: Ivory Bivens Jr., Lorin Morgan and Shawn Fisher.
