Thirty-one blind students from nine counties converged in South Tampa on Thursday to compete in the Central Florida Regional Braille Challenge.
They read with their fingers and typed on their Porter Braillers, hoping to become a finalist and travel to Los Angeles this year to compete against others from across the nation and Canada. The challenge took place at the Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired and included students from first grade through 12th grade.
Florida will send the 60 top scorers to the national challenge.
