Review: No! No! Professional Hair Removal Treatment; available at Sephora, www.sephora.com and www.amazon.com; suggested retail price is $250.
The pitch: "A revolutionary new concept in hair removal. No! No! is based on a new technology called Thermicon, which uses the scientific principles of thermal transference to conduct a gentle pulse of heat to the hair."
The skinny: Yes, yes, you are going to need a lot of time and patience to get results with the No! No! This tiny machine, which fits in the palm of your hand, essentially uses a hot blade to "crystallize" the hair on your body. While that may sound scary, it's really not at all painful. And it's relatively easy once you master the technique (with the help of an instructional DVD).
Once you get the hang of the "slow guide," holding the device at a 90-degree angle while you glide it over your skin, it's on to the "advance" stage, where you navigate the device around elbows, knees and underarms. It took me several weeks to muster the courage - and skill - to tackle my underarms, but once I did, it was surprisingly easy. A little green light stays on when you're doing it correctly. Outside of a warm feeling, and a slight tingling afterward, that was it. There was a burning hair smell as it "crystallized" the hair on my legs.
The No! No! removed hair, but even with the recommended buffing after-treatment, I still had stubble. The suggested use is two to three times a week, and the more you use it, the better it works. I'll keep practicing, but for now, a razor is still my hair removal treatment of choice.

Review: Axe detailer shower tool; available at retail and drugstores and online at www.drugstore.com and www.amazon.com; prices range from $5.49 to $5.79.
The pitch: "Designed to meet every man's personal cleansing needs. Improves your liquid cleansing experience. (Better clean from greater lather, better scrub, and greater efficiency.)"
The skinny: I love a good shower pouf for nice exfoliation and loads of lather. My husband likes them, too; my pretty poufs always wind up hanging on his shower hook. When I saw the Axe shower tool, I rejoiced. Finally, someone came up with a pouf made for a guy!
Everything about the Axe detailer oozes manliness. It's red and black, and it looks like a tire with a black pouf wedged between a black rubbery grip. The pouf side is made for men's "sensitive" areas, while the red "coarse" side is designed for a good scrubbing on rougher spots like hands and feet. I took it home and parked it on my husband's shower hook. (It really looked rugged hanging next to my minty green pouf!) "It's your very own man-pouf," I exclaimed.
But a few days later, disappointment set in. I found the tool hanging on my hook. "Too much tire, too little pouf," hubby said. Translation: Not enough lather. (Real men do like to lather.) The scrubber side worked nicely, he said, but he found the tool to be too small. "If it's made for a man, it needs to be bigger," he said. The next day, my pouf was back on his shower hook.
