Walter Farley was killed by someone who entered his home at 7931 Indian Heights Drive either Wednesday night or early this morning, deputies reported.

LAKELAND - A 93-year-old man was killed Wednesday night in a home invasion robbery, Polk County deputies said.
Walter Farley was killed by someone who entered his home at 7931 Indian Heights Drive, deputies reported. His son and his wife left the home about 5:30 p.m. to celebrate New Year's Eve at the Red Rose Inn and Suites in Plant City.
When they returned to the home around 9:15 a.m., they discovered Farley had been shot to death.
"A heinous murder against a very fine 93-year-old gentleman occurred here, and we are personally outraged," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "Our homicide detectives will work around the clock to identify the suspect or suspects responsible for Mr. Farley's death."
