Tampa Baby Born 17 Seconds Into 2009

TAMPA - The new year was just 17 seconds old when Giovani Lee Mosquera Pittman made his debut into the world this morning at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital.

The son of Estephanie Mosquera-Ortiz and Anthony Pittman was 7 1/2 pounds and 19 inches long.

Tampa General Hospital's first baby of the new year, a girl, was born 5 minutes after midnight, a hospital spokeswoman said. Her name wasn't available.
