Nebraska Avenue looks like a garbage dump. Drive the stretch between Sligh and Fowler and count the number of second-hand stores, used tire shops and just plain piles of junk for sale. The stores along Nebraska are allowed to store their items outside 24 hours a day, seven days a week; it is, in essence, a 365-day yard sale.
It's a huge eyesore and Tampa government allows it to continue. Code enforcement is worse than useless. Through their lack of action, city officials encourage the continued trashing of Tampa. Mayor Pam Iorio needs to drive down Nebraska on regular basis and see, smell, and experience it. She would hang her head in shame. I have tried over and over again to get Tampa to do something, but the requests fall on deaf ears. This is Tampa at its worst. I invite the mayor to drive or better yet, walk it, and report back. That would be interesting. I am not holding my breath, though.
