LAND O' LAKES - Parents will get a chance this month to weigh in with their views on proposed attendance boundaries for two new schools opening in August.
A parent meeting on the Watergrass Elementary boundaries is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Wesley Chapel Elementary School's cafeteria on Wells Road.
Watergrass, under construction in the Watergrass development off Curley Road, will draw all of its students from Wesley Chapel Elementary, which is one of the county's most crowded schools.
A meeting on the Anclote High School boundaries will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Smith Middle School cafeteria on Sweetbriar Drive in Holiday.
Anclote High is being built next to the middle school and will draw its students from Mitchell and Gulf High.
The Pasco County School Board is expected to vote on the proposed attendance boundaries in February.
Committees of principals, parents and school district officials began working on the boundaries two months ago.
Maps of the recommended boundary changes were sent to parents in the affected schools Dec. 19, just as the school district began its winter break.
The school board named principals for the new schools Dec. 16.
Monica Ilse, principal at Land O' Lakes High, will be the Anclote High principal. Scott Mitchell, principal at Centennial Elementary south of Dade City, will transfer to Watergrass Elementary.
