President-elect Barack Obama and his family returned to Chicago on Friday after a 12-day holiday vacation in Hawaii.
Here are highlights of the family's schedule:
SUNDAY
Obama and his family will fly to Washington. The first family-in-waiting will stay at the historic Hay-Adams Hotel near the White House.
MONDAY
Obama meets with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, then joins them in a meeting with GOP leaders. Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress want to enact the still-emerging economic recovery plan. Also Monday, 7-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia start school.
WEDNESDAY
Obama talks with President George W. Bush and former presidents at the White House.
JAN. 15
The Obamas move into Blair House, the president-elect's traditional Washington quarters.
JAN. 20
Obama is sworn in as the nation's 44th president and the family moves in to the White House.
