Trains Could Save Car Manufacturers

Published: January 3, 2009

The head of General Motors said that at least five plants will close, even with the bail-out money.

What will Obama do? Just accept this? I hope not.

If we geared up for class 1 fuel-efficient cars in some of the auto plants, and trains in the plants that plan to close, we may save many plants and jobs. In fact we may even see the car manufacturers companies needing to open more plants.

In WW II the car manufacturers retooled their plants to produce war materials (tanks, etc.). They could easily retool the plants they plan to close to produce trains.
President Eisenhower was the one who implemented the interstate highway system after seeing how wonderful and useful the huge autobahn system in Germany was during WW II. Will Obama now revitalize the automobile industry by creating a first-class interstate railroad system that crisscrosses this nation from shore to shore with fuel-efficient and eco-friendly trains that travel very fast all over our nation? Will Obama relieve our overcrowded airports and planes by creating the interstate rail system?

Will Obama make it possible for goods as well as people to travel across this nation at much more eco-friendly and fuel efficient fast trains?

Will Obama revive the building industry by encouraging the building of train stations, hotels, gas stations, car rental places and bus stations next to or very near to train stations?
