LAND O' LAKES - Life coach Carrie Kukuda wants to help people turn their "someday" promises into realities.
Kukuda, known as "The Someday Coach," has spent the past three years helping people with goal-setting, lifestyle changes, nutritional plans, exercise plans, budgeting, debt reduction, credit education, organizational skills and time management.
"I can help people get past what they are stuck in," said Kukuda of Land O' Lakes. "I help people to identify their goals, put a strategic plan in place, help them to identify what obstacles they will encounter and help them come up with ways to overcome them - and then they take action."
The biggest benefit of working with a life coach is the focus they can bring to the issue, Kukuda said.
"I think it is important to work with a coach because then you are held accountable," Kukuda said. "I can help people with whatever they bring to me, whether it is a lifestyle change or if they need to quit smoking or lose weight. I love what I do because if, at the end of the day, I have made some small difference in someone's life, then I feel like I have done what I need to do."
Kukuda has been a certified personal trainer for 15 years and created her own 11-week nutrition program, Weigh-To-Go Solutions, which can help people adopt better eating habits. She also teaches circuit training classes and has a walking club.
"It is a step-by-step program," Kukuda said. "Each week there is a different focus and there is homework and a challenge. The program has helped hundreds of people since I started teaching it in 1994. It makes it easy, because not only do they have the program, they have the support from me through e-mail or in person if they are local."
Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr of Lutz is working with Kukuda to lose weight. Fontaine-Barr reports the amount of exercise she does every day as well as the type and amount of food she is eating.
"I went to Carrie because I needed to be held accountable for what I am doing every day," Fontaine-Barr said. "She not only keeps me accountable, she is also great at finding what I need and putting a program together just for me. She does not have a one-size-fits-all attitude.
"She is a super-positive and loving person, which helps because a lot of the things she has you do, you don't want to do. But she makes it fun."
Kukuda's success goes beyond weight loss, as in the case of Elisabeth Butterfield of Wesley Chapel.
"Everybody has a gigantic monkey on their back and she helps to get rid of it," Butterfield said. "I went to her because I had 60 pounds I wanted to lose but that was secondary to what I really needed to do. She was able to dissect what was holding me back and helped me to focus on what needed to be done. She is great because of her attention to the details behind the details."
In January, Kukuda will start online classes for her 11-week weight-loss program, where she will communicate with her customers through e-mail. For information, visit www. thesomedaycoach.com or call (813) 600-5208.
