Dade City - The Dade City Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Martin Luther King Boulevard early this morning.
Around 2:05 a.m., police say, Officer Chris Stone reported hearing what he believed was a gunshot coming from east of the railroad tracks on MLK Boulevard. About 20 to 30 seconds later, Stone saw a westbound vehicle speed across the tracks, cross the 98 By-Pass, leave the roadway on the south shoulder of MLK and go through a field before striking a tree on 5th Street just south of MLK.
Police say they found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to Pasco Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Thomas William Flannery, 46, of Seaberg Road in Zephyrhills.
