Gulf
COACH: Bruno Buonsanto (first year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Ashley Mizrahi (Sr., 119), qualified for state; Jordyn Roberts (Sr., 139); Jennifer Auxier (Sr., 139).
NEW LIFTERS: Amber Maxey (Fr., 139).
OUTLOOK: Mizrahi, the team captain, should qualify for state again. Buosanto said he has 13 good lifters. The seniors work above the level. He is expecting several to qualify for state.
Hudson
COACH: Tim White (fifth year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Kahla St. Pierre (Sr., 119), third at SAC meet; Randi Groff (Jr., 119), fourth at SAC meet.
NEW LIFTERS: Tianna Perry (Jr., 129).
OUTLOOK: White said he has three girls with a shot at state. There are 11 girls on the team.
Land O' Lakes
COACH: Leslie Stanford (sixth year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Morgan Keppel (Jr., 101), state qualfier; Katie McCollough (Jr., 154).
NEW LIFTERS: None proven
OUTLOOK: Keppel made it to state last year and hopes to return. Stanford thinks all of the lifters have a chance to make progress. They are new to weightlifting and are young. There are 10 girls on the team.
Mitchell
COACH: Regenia Dixon (Fourth year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Heather Muccino (Soph., 199), won her class at the SAC meet; Ciara Seymour (Sr., 183); Courtney Dougherty (Jr., 169); Lauren Courtney (Jr., 154); Hannah Gatley (Jr. 139); Thoi Le (Sr., 110).
NEW LIFTERS: Kierra Sullivan (Soph. Unl); Meghan Snyder (Jr., 183); Miranda Moye (Fr., 119).
OUTLOOK: There are 23 girls on the team. Dixon thinks at least five of six returning lifters should be state contenders. Dixon thinks Sullivan should do well in conference and possibly qualify for state, and she thinks this will be Mitchell's year.
Pasco
COACH: Brian Walker (second year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Alyssa Larson (Sr., 139); Tiffany Castro (Sr., 199).
NEW LIFTER: Marissa Rivera (So., 129).
OUTLOOK: There are 12 girls on the team, and three of them could qualify for state. Walker said the girls are busy and that she needs to start recruiting more lifters.
Ridgewood
COACH: Kent Reed (first year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Lauren Heymann (Sr., 154), state qualifier; Jill Browne, (Sr., 101); Madison Pretto (Jr., 154); Liz Clum (Sr. 169).
NEW LIFTERS: Ashley Rodriguez (Fr., 110); Brittany Ramey (Sr., 129).
OUTLOOK: Reed finds an enthusiastic group of 30 girls on is team, and he said he could have as many as five girls qualify for state.
River Ridge
COACH: Mike DeGennaro (12th year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Brianna Hooker (Sr., 110), tied for second in her weight class at state; Stephanie Hull (Sr., 169), state qualifier last year; Jessica Diaz (Sr., 101), state qualifier last year; Daniel DiMarte (Sr., 119), state qualifier; Natalie Marenghi (Jr., 110), state qualifier; Meghan Shoun (So., 199), state qualifier.
NEW LIFTERS: None proven.
OUTLOOK: The Knights won the Sunshine Athletic Conference and had six qualfiers at the state meet. DeGennaro thinks his team has a good shot at repeating as conference champs. He hopes his team doesn't have a bad day at conference. He expects Ridgewood, Zephyrhills and Wesley Chapel teams to be strong. There are 22 girls on the team. River Ridge will host the state meet again on Feb. 14.
Sunlake
COACH: Denise Garcia (first year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Melanie Lehmkuhl (So.); Nicole Bolt (So.)
NEW LIFTERS: Karra Fischer (Sr.); Sherling Tejada (Fr.)
OUTLOOK: Garcia said her team's goal is to improve, but she thinks she has a good group of girls. There are 18 lifters on the team. Garcia said the girls want to learn and get better and hope to become contenders.
Wesley Chapel
COACH: John Castelamare
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Brittany Phipps (Jr., 154), state qualifier; Kelly Daugherty (Jr., unlimited), state qualfier.
NEW LIFTERS: None proven.
OUTLOOK: There are 20 on the team, and Phipps and Daugherty should return to state.
Wiregrass Ranch
COACH: Jeremy Shobe (second year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Elyse Houston (Sr., 101); Briana Glass (Sr., 169); Kimberly Morin (Sr., 199); Christine Andrews (Jr., 109).
NEW LIFTERS: Kim Rodriguez (Fr., 183); Julia Medina (Jr., 129); Ashley Washington (Sr., 139)
OUTLOOK: Shobe hopes to have two or three girls qualify for state and do well at the conference meet. He has 14 lifters on his team. Shobe says he hopes his girls will continue to improve and build on last year's finish.
Zephyrhills
COACH: David Brown (first year)
KEY RETURNING LIFTERS: Casey Rogers (Sr., 183); Breanna Blalock (Jr., Unl.); Brooke Jensen (Sr., 110); Danielle O'Donnell (So., 101); Danielle Guerette (So., 119); Amanda Ramos (Sr., 129); Shelby Reubens (So., 110).
NEW LIFTERS: Melissa Spano (Sr., 101); Chrissy Graham (Jr., Unl).
OUTLOOK: There are 25 lifters on the team, and Brown thinks 10 can qualify for the state meet.
