Tampa police say they seized nearly 100 counterfeit $20 bills Sunday from a Davie man.

About 6 p.m., Lisa Work paid with a counterfeit $20 bill while visiting Margarita Mama's in Channelside, a Tampa police report states. The bill had no watermark. An employee contacted law enforcement before Work left.

Investigators soon learned Work's father, Timothy Work, gave her the money, according to the report.

Lisa Work, 21, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Sunday. She was charged with passing counterfeit money and attempted fraud. Her bail was set at $4,000, and she was in Orient Road Jail this morning.

Her father, who was with her in Margarita Mama's, gave investigators a false name, according to a criminal arrest affidavit. When investigators searched his vehicle, they found 16 fake $20 bills and 76 more on sheets that were ready to be cut.

He told police he made the fake bills and that his daughter had nothing to do with it, the affidavit states.

He was arrested and charged with forging bank bills, possessing and passing counterfeit money and giving a false name to law enforcement.

He also was charged with violating probation.

His bail was set at $9,107.50. He was in Orient Road Jail this morning.
