PALMETTO - A 50-year-old woman accused of stabbing a 71-year-old man to death at a Palmetto boarding house was arrested tonight and charged with murder and attempted murder, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives say after Deborah Williams fatally stabbed Joseph Scott, she tried to stab another man, 56-year-old Sylvester Mitchell, at the boarding house at 2211 Fourth Ave. E.
Deputies were called to the scene about 6:40 p.m.
Scott was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities say.
Williams was upset with Scott because he may have been involved with another woman, detectives say. It is unclear if Scott and Williams had a relationship in the past, the sheriff's office said.
