ARCADIA - Six inmates who escaped this afternoon from a state prison in DeSoto County have been caught.
The inmates were captured on the southern side of the facility, still on prison property. The call that they escaped came in at 5:10 p.m.; they were captured shortly before 8 p.m.
One of the inmates was in prison for murder. Sheriff's officials have not yet released details on how the men initially escaped from the prison, which is on Highway 70 in Arcadia.
According to the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, the men who escaped are:
Steven Watson, 39, two counts of homicide; Rashad Whitfield, 31, theft; Jorge Reyes, 49, drug charges; William Grace, 22, grand theft auto and aggravated assault; and Frank Gonzalez, 27, and Nicholas Peraza, 20. Charges on Gonzalez and Peraza were not immediately available.
