Calendar Winners Showcase Nature

NEW PORT RICHEY - Area shutterbugs submitted more than 400 Pasco County nature photos for a contest to illustrate the 2009 calendar of Gulfside Regional Hospice.

The calendars, $7.50 each, are on sale at Gulfside Regional Hospice Thrift Shoppes to raise money for programs, according to Ashley Mann, community relations coordinator for the nonprofit, end-of-life care provider.

Gulfside staff and volunteers chose the winning entries for the 15-month calendar. The winners are:

•Cover: "Sky View of Anclote Island," Mitchell Weiner
•December 2008: "Daybreak in New Port Richey," Andrea Morrow

•January: "Butterfly in Flight," Jeff Post

•February: "Bird Sunning," Ryian Robertson

•March: "Sailboat Race," Deb Harrison

•April: "Yellow Flowers," Andrew Sibbitt

•May: "Hot Air Balloons," Michelle Dillard

•June: "Lifeguard Stand," Sharon Gabryszak

•July: "Flag at Gulfside Mending Hearts Kids' Camp," Keth Luke

•August: "Beach Day," Nicole Lee
•September: "Playing at the Beach," Brenda Shaffer
•October: "Fall Festival," Paula Smith

•November: "Dade City Court House," Ashley Mann

•December: "Holiday Candles," Marilyn Peck

•January 2010: "Historic Moon Lake Barn," Tim Dohrman
•February 2010: "Downtown New Port Richey," John Jones

All proceeds from the calendar sales are spent on patients and their families.

Gulfside's thrift shops are at 3601 Universal Plaza, Moog Road and U.S. 19, Holiday; and 12154 U.S. 19, Hudson.
