The northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard in Pinellas County are expected to be closed for several hours after a woman was hit by a car and later died, authorities say.
The woman, who was not carrying any identification, was trying to cross near the 9600 block of Seminole Boulevard about 8 p.m. when she was struck by a black Hyundai Elantra, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center, where she later died, sheriff's spokesman Jim Bordner said in a written statement.
Deputies are interviewing the driver of the Hyundai involved in the crash, Bordner said. No other injuries were reported.
