Citrus County Head-On Collision Kills 1, Injures 1

A man was killed and a woman hospitalized this morning after the two were involved in a head-on collision on County Road 491 near U.S. 41 in Citrus County.

The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. Police said the male driver was heading south on C.R. 491 when his car crossed into the northbound lane and slammed into a car driven by Krystal McCracken, 19, of Crystal River.

C.R. 491 was closed for three hours.

Police did not give the name of the dead man because his family had not been notified. He was described as 41 years old and from Beverly Hills in Citrus County. He died at the scene.

McCracken was taken to Shands at the University of Florida and admitted with serious injuries.
